PENGARUH MODEL NUMBERED HEADS TOGETHER (NHT) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN DALAM MENEMUKAN GAGASAN UTAMA SISWA KELAS VII.3 SMP NEGERI 5 MUARO BUNGO PROVINSI JAMBI

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research of paragraph is to prove the effect of NHT model toward student ability in finding main idea at SMP Negeri 5 Muaro Bungo Provinsi Jambi. The theory that use in this research is (1) an understanding of reading by Kamarudin and Rustam (2008), (2) the types of reading by Tarigan (2008), (3) the definition of Paragraph by Manaf, Arifin, and Tasai (2010), (4) the idea of reading by Arifin and Tasai (2010), NHT Studies by Ibrahim (2000), and (6) The result of study by Arikunto (2008). Quantitative research method with quasi experimental design, aims to determine the difference between before and after implementation of NHT model. Object of the research is the student class VII of SMPN 5 Muaro Bungo Jambi Province. This research taken two class for example, those are experiment class and control class. The instrument of this research is the test to find the main idea. Based on the analysis found the result of the final test in experiment and control class derive = 2,832 with degree of freedom df = ( + – 2). For the significance level 5% = 2,02 can be seen greater than or 2.02 < 2.832 so rejected and accepted , can be concluded that the learning result of students who find the main idea taught by NHT model better than learning result finding the main idea that not taught by NHT model on a class VII student of SMP Negeri 5 Muaro Bungo Jambi Province.
