The Correlation Between Self Concept And Study Interest With the Academic Achieveent Of Bachelor Degree’s Students In Biology Departements Of Bung Hatta University Padang
Abstrak
The aim of this research is o see the correlation between seft concept and study interest with the academic achievement of bachelor degree’s students in Biology Departements of Bung Hatta University. The population in this research is the bechelor degree’s students in Biology departements of Bung Hatta University in year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 who were registered even semester 2013/2014. The sample was chosen by using Random Sampling method from every academic year. The data was collected by spreading out the questionnaires consisting of 36 item. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 16 program though double correlation analyzed. The result shows that the variables correlation of self concept with the academic achievement 0,592 were catageryzed quite strong , the variables correlation between study interest and academic achievement 0,596 were catagoryzet quite strong. The correlation between self concept and study interest with students academic achivement shows a strong positive correlation, that is 44% and p=0,000. So that the hypothesis H1 is accepted. It means that a positive self concept and high study interest resulted a high academic achievement. Otherwise, a negative self concept and a low study interest resulted in a low academic achivement.
