Abstract

This study aimed to see differences in the results of the conventional learning (lectures, discussions, question and answer) and the type of learning with an active model of Learning Start With a Question in learning biology class SMP STATE 43 Merangin. Learning outcomes are observed cognitive test results were seen from the end of the study, whereas affective and psychomotor domains using observation sheets were used as supporting data to determine the differences in learning outcomes. This study is an experiment, with the population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP 43 Merangin STATE. Sampling study conducted by purposive sampling technique, and the determination of the experimental class and the control class Random (random), the results obtained from the Random class VIII-5 as an experimental class and class VIII-6 as a control class. Hypothesis testing is done by t-test, because the data were normally distributed and homogeneous variation. The results showed an average value of daily test biology class students experiment with an average value of 83.79 and the learning outcomes of biological control class 70.13. (a = 0.05) obtained t = 4.37 and 1.67 mean tcount table =>ttable then the hypothesis is accepted, ie H1: There are differences in learning outcomes between the application of active learning model of type Start Learning With A Question with conventional learning outcomes eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 43 Merangin. Affective and Psychomotor assessment experiment class (Affective: 90 and Psychomotor: 88) is higher than in the control class (Affective: 86 and Psychomotor: 83).
