ABSTRACT

 

This research was aimed to describe the use of greeting words in Kanagarian Lubuk Ulang Aling Selatan Kecamatan Sangir Batang Hari Kabupaten Solok Selatan. This research focused about: the core of kinship greeting words and the extended of kinship greeting words. The theory that was used the greeting words theory that expressed by Syafyahya. The design of this research was qualitative research using descriptive method, the population of this research was people in Kanagarian Lubuk Ulang Aling Selatan Kecamatan Sangir Batang Hari Kabupaten Solok Selatan. The researcher took fourteen people in Kanagarian Lubuk Ulang Aling Selatan Kecamatan Sangir Batang Hari Kabupaten Solok Selatan consists of seven men and seven women. The result of this research showed that there were seventy four greeting words, there were eleven the core of kinship greeting words and there were sixty three the extended of kinship greeting words. At the core of kinship greeting words only seven different greetings, namely: ayah, amak, uda, kak tuo, uni, awak, dan sabuik namo. While the extended of kinship greeting words only thirty one different greetings, namely: inyiak antan, inyiak adi, ino, adi, antan, atuak, pak tuo, mak tuo, ongku, pak osu, mok su, osu, mak etek, pak etek and so on. Based on the results, it can be conluded that people in Kanagarian Lubuk Ulang Aling Selatan Kecamatan Sangir Batang Hari Kabupaten Solok Selatan still use the greeting words that has not changed from the first.
