This research is background by low cognitive aspects of student learning outcomes in science subjects in class 01 SD Negeri VIa Koto Balingka. This is because students feel that teaching science is a subject that is considered difficult so that they are not interested to learn. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes are seen from the cognitive aspects of student understanding of the learning material provided by the teacher through demonstration method in class VIa SDN 01 Koto Balingka. This research is a classroom action research, this study was conducted in two cycles of the first cycle was conducted on Monday 6th and Wednesday the 8th of January 2014, while the second cycle executed Wednesday 15th and Monday January 20, 2014 Based on the research that has been conducted can note that the average value of cognitive tests of student learning in the first cycle of 68.91%, and 80.09% for the second cycle. While the views of aspects of the student in the learning process in the first cycle with a percentage of 57.5% and 77.5% for the second cycle. So in this case it can be concluded that in learning science by using the method of demonstration can improve student learning outcomes VIa class of SD Negeri 01 Koto Balingka. Based on these results, the researchers suggested that teachers can implement demonstration method correctly in accordance with the material being taught.
