Abstract


This research is in the background by the low background activity of student learning, marked lack of activity heard the presentation of the material conveyed by the teacher, students practice writing inactivity resulting in lower student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is 1). To hear the presentation of the material increases the activity 2). To improve the activity of writing exercises students 3). To enhance students' ability to understand 4). To improve students' ability to respond. This research is a classroom action research. The subjects were fourth graders totaling 32 people. The instrument of this study is the observation sheet teacher activity, student activity sheets observation, assessment of cognitive and affective assessment. The results of this study to know the average percentage of the activity of the presentation of the material heard on suiklus I 64.06% increased to 87.29% in the second cycle, the activity of writing exercises 60.93% in the first cycle, increased to 87.29% in the second cycle. And the ability to understand in view of the students through achievement test 43.75% in cycle I. Increase to 81.25% in siklus`II, as well as evaluating the affective domain, 66.08% in the first cycle increased to 77.06% in the second cycle. This means that the target indicators in this study and the successful implementation of the model of learning with Word Square is progressing well. Based on the results of the assessment can be simpulakan that learning through teaching model Civics Word Square can increase activity and learning outcomes. Based on the research results, it is suggested that the model may apply well in Word Square Civics lesson on different materials.
