Abstract

The problems that occurred in SMP 12 Padang is in every lesson the teacher more often provide routine matters to students, so that students have difficulty in solving the problem based. As a result, students are not capable of reasoning and analyze the problem. As for how to improve students reasoning and analysis is to train students to think high level. One alternative to overcome this problem is to implement model poblem based learning. The purpose of this study was to test whether the student’s achievement mathematics learning using model problem based learning better than mathematics learning outcomes of students who use usual learning in class VII students in SMPN 12 Padang. This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study were students of class VII SMPN 12  Padang consisting of six homogeneous classes. The instrument used in the form of achievement test. Based on the data of students' mathematics learning in second grade sample, test hypotheses with t-test and obtained and. Because the proposed hypothesis is accepted at the 95% confidence level. Thus the learning outcomes of students whose learning math implement model problem based learning better than learning outcomes of students learning mathematics using usual learning in class VII SMPN 12 Padang.
