PENINGKATAN MINAT DAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS X.8 DENGAN METODE COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION (CIRC) DI SMAN 1 KECAMATAN PAYAKUMBUH KABUPATEN LIMA PULUH KOTA

Background of this research was less of interest and ability in reading comprehension of students class X.8 SMAN 1 Kecamatan Payakumbuh Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. Purpose of this research are to describe increase of interest and ability reading comprehension of student clas X.8 with Cooperatif Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method at SMAN 1 Kecamatan Payakumbuh Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. This research used theory that stated by Tarigan (2008) about reading comprehension, Agustina (2008) about aspect of reading comprehension and Slavin (2005) about CIRC method. This research was a classroom action research. This research was conducted in two cycles, each of them consist of two times class meeting. The subject of this research was students class X.8 SMAN 1 Kecamatan Payakumbuh Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota consist of 23 students. Instrument of this research are questionnaire, writing test and field notes. Based on the research found that (1) the average of students interest on first cycle is 76,07% increased on second cycle to 86,72%, (2) the average of students ability in reading comprehension on firstcycle is 73,53 increased on second cycle to 86. Based on research can be concluded that Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method can increase students interest and ability in reading comprehension at class X.8 SMAN 1 Kecamatan Payakumbuh Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota.
