PROSES, TUJUAN DAN MANFAAT ALIH KODE DALAM PROSES PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DI SMPN 4 SAWAHLUNTO KOTA SAWAHLUNTO

ABSTRACT

 

This research was motivated by the learning process where a lot of teachers had switch code by using local language (Minangkabau) to students at class II of SMPN 4 Sawahlunto. The purpose of this research was to describe the process, purpose and benefits of using code switchingin the learning process of mathematics at SMPN 4 Sawahlunto in Sawahlunto city. This research used theory of Sociolinguitics was proposed by Chaer. This research used a qualitative method by applying descriptive data. The results of this research showed that the presence of the process, purpose and benefits of using code switching in mathematics teaching was conducted by the teacher to the students during the learning process was going on, the usage of code switching by teachers fron Indonesian to the local language (Minangkabau). Instead teacher also switch from local (Minangkabau) to Indonesia Based on relevant research to the issues examined, the difference with previous studies of code switching was examined by Novita Anwar, entitled “Interpreting code switching in use at the relingion court of Solok city†and research couducted by suhendri entitled “The use of code of code switching among mubaliq giving religious information of islam at the mosgue of Babussalam of Ulak Karang in north Padang districh“  with this research was the place and object of the research antitled “process, purpose and benefits of code switching in the learning process of mathematics at SMPN 4 Sawahlunto in Sawahlunto cityâ€. The results of this study concluded that the cause of appearing the code switching were: (1) the process of code switching where math teacher explains to the students using the Indonesian language and then switch to local language (Minangkabau) or otherwise, (2) the purpose of a teacher transferring the code represent teachers tips in explaining the lesson and (3) the benefits for students with code switching in the class was in order the student to the next lesson enable to recall the previous lesson.
