IMPROVEMENT OF STUDENTS WITH LEARNING MOTIVATION IPS USING PROBLEM SOLVINGIN CLASS VI SDN 17 TALAU DISTRICT PADANG PARIAMAN

Abstrak

This study was motivated by the lack of motivation of students in the sixth grade social studies SDN 17 Talau Padang Pariaman . There are several factors that lead to low student motivation . Among them are the teachers have not been able to motivate students in learning . One way to overcome this problem is to use a method of problem solving by way of discussion . The purpose of this study is to describe the students' learning motivation IPS Class VI SDN 17 Talau by using methods of problem solving . This type of research is a classroom action research ( PTK ) conducted two cycles . This research was conducted each cycle consisting of two meetings and one final test sessions cycle . The subject of this research is the sixth grade students of SDN 17 Talau totaling 12 students . The instrument used in this study is the observation sheet student motivation , teacher observation activities , student motivation questionnaire sheet , field notes , and achievement test . Based on the survey results revealed that students' motivation in asking questions increased from 54.16 % to the first cycle of 79.16 % in the second cycle , the motivation of students in answering questions increased from 54.16 % to the first cycle of 74.99 % in the second cycle , motivation students in the task increased 70.83 % from the first cycle to 83.33 % in the second cycle , the motivation of students in observing the teacher explains the subject matter increased from 83.33 % to the first cycle of 87.49 % in the second cycle . Then the average value of daily test students first cycle is the percentage of mastery learning 61.25 33.33 % and average daily student test scores the second cycle is 73.33 while the percentage of completeness of 75% means that the target is not reached , but the increase in student motivation materialized . From the results obtained , it can be concluded that the social studies learning by using problem solving method can increase the motivation of students of class VI SDN 17 Talau Kabupaten Padang Pariaman.
