Abstrak
The research about the politeness of speech act from the children to the older people in hamlet Renah Sungai Besar district of Limbur Lubuk Mengkuang Bungo Jambi Province is considered important to be conducted. This is an attempt to explore and understand the tact with the use Jambi Malay dialect Limbur in daily life and as a way to preserve local languages. The purpose of this research is to describe the linguistic politeness Limbur Jambi Malay dialect in children’s speech acts to the older people in hamlet Renah Sungai Besar of Limbur Lubuk Mengkuang Bungo district in Jambi Province. The theory that be used as reference in this research is, modesty of speaking (Chaer 2010) used to analyze modesty of a speech act. The kind of research this is the qualitative study by the method of descriptive. The results of the study found that a speech act children in hamlet Renah Sungai Besar, district of Limbur the center of Mengkuang Bungo regency Jambi province on a person who is older is considered to be lacking cordiality. Five major aspects of a speech act directive that is observed, a speech act that most common to find is a speech act challenge namely as many as 15 data, a speech act suggest as many as 7 data, a speech act pleading 6 data, while a speech act sent and a speech act demanding 5 data. Based on the results of data analysis, can be concluded that modesty of speaking the dialect of malay Jambi Limbur in a speech act on a person who is older in hamlet Renah Sungai Besar district of Limbur the center of Mengkuang kabupaten Bungo Jambi province tend to use the governors one who is older in hamlet Renah the great river kecamatan Limbur the center of Mengkuang Bungo regency Jambi province tend to use his greeting people who were brought up and speech act spoken tending to rough as well as using a sentence orders directly which causes the politeness scale unmet (scale modesty of formality, indecisiveness, and herd).
