Abstrak

ABSTRACT

 

This research is motivated by the teacher during the learning predominantly use the lecture method, so that the activities and results of social studies students have not been as expected. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in the activity of student discussions, student understanding, and affective aspects of fifth grade students in social studies learning materials on maintaining independence through a model of Problem Based Learning in SDN 04 Kampung Olo Nanggalo District of Padang. This research is a classroom action research. The research instrument is observation sheet activities of teacher, student activity observation sheet, affective aspects of students' observation sheets, sheets achievement test, and field record sheet. The subjects were students of class V, which amounted to 33 students. Results of the study in two cycles showed an increase learning outcomes IPS through Problem Based Learning model. Activity discussion on the first cycle is 39.93% and increased 75.23% in the second cycle. The understanding in the first cycle is 56.25% and increased 87.50% in the second cycle. On average affective aspects of students in the first cycle is 58.08% and increased 83.39% in the second cycle. It can be concluded, through problem based learning model can be improved activity and learning outcomes IPS graders V. Researchers suggest that teachers can choose and use appropriate learning model in teaching, which can use the model of Problem Based Learning to increase the activity and results of social studies.
