Abstrak

Abstract
The research objective was to describe the activity and the class V student learning outcomes in mathematics using problem based learning model in SDN 01 Ulak Karang Selatan District of Padang Utara. This type of research is classroom action research. The study was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings and one final test cycle. The subjects were students of class V SDN 01 Ulak Karang selatan, which amounts to 33 people. The research instrument used is the observation sheet student activities, teacher observation sheet teaching activities, and test student learning outcomes. Based on the results of observation sheets, obtained by the percentage of student learning activities in the first cycle 49.47% increased to 72.2% in the second cycle. Based on the results of the study, the percentage of students who achieve mastery learning in the first cycle and increased 69.70% in the second cycle into 87.88%. This means that the learning of mathematics using problem based learning model can improve the activity and student learning outcomes Class V. Therefore, researchers suggested that teachers can use the model of Problem Based Learning in learning to improve student learning activities.
