Abstrak

Background of this research is lack of students reading comprehension to answer question, find main idea and make summary, so it affects to result of daily examination of indonesian language in grade V. To solve these problems, the researcher uses directed reading thingking activity strategy. Purpose of this research is to identify students reading comprehension by using directed reading thingking activity strategy. The theory that is became reference of this research in identifying students reading comprehension is Agustina Theory (2008) and Dalman (2013), DRTA strategy by using Rahim opinion (2009). The researcher uses action research method. This research is conducted in two cycles, each of cycles has twice meeting classroom. Then it is continued with test in the second meeting in each of the cycle. Subject of this research are students of grade V. Instrument of the research teachers activity paper and students score. Based on the result, it is found that students reading comprehension in three steps. They are students reading comprehension in answering question, finding main idea and making summary. In fact, average score of the students in first cycle is 73,1 and it increases in the second cycle 85,2. Based on the result, the researcher concluded that using directed reading thingking activity strategy can enhance their reading comprehension and result of study of grade V students SDN 06 Ulakan Tapakis. So, she suggests that teacher should use this strategy in teaching activity, it is to enhance students reading comprehension.
