Abstrak

The background of this research by students reading activity was low and learning outcomes of students in grade fifth-A SDN 24 Jati Gaung Kecamatan Padang Timur. The lowness of reading activity, its caused by using learning strategy has not varied, while, the lowness to understanding What their read. The purpose of this study was to describe of intensif reading activity and student learning outcomes at fifth grade C student in Indonesian language learning by Using Know-Want to Know-Learned (KWL) strategy. The type of This research was classroom action research. Instrument of this research was students intensif reading activity sheet, teacher activity observation sheet and test student learning outcomes. The subjects were students in fifth grade A at SDN 24 Gaung Jati Padang amount 20 people. Based on the results of this research, obtained an average percentage of reading activity on the first cycle 49.07%, increased in the second cycle into 80.01% and the average of the first cycle of learning outcomes increase in cycle II 69.5 to 75.5. It can be concluded that the using KWL strategy can be improved intensif reading activity and student learning outcomes. From this research, that is recommended to the teachers can used KWL strategy to increase intensif reading activity and student learning outcomes.
