Abstrak

This research is motivated low activity and the results of the first grade students at SDN 14 UlakKarang Selatan in the reduction of natural numbers. This is known as media in teaching teachers to use a stick as a learning tool for determining the value of a place in math. The purpose of this research is to increase the activity and student learning outcomes in the reduction of class I with Block Dienes natural numbers. This type of research is classroom action research. Subjects of this study were students of class I, amounting to 29 people. The research instrument used is the observation sheet student activities, teacher activity sheet, achievement test. Based on the analysis of student activity observation sheet obtained an average percentage of observer in the first cycle for the student activity indicator in listening to the teacher's explanation, namely 48.27%, on the second cycle increased to 96.50%. student activity using Dienes blocks in the first cycle was 44.82%, an increase in cycle II to 93.10%, the activity of the students in doing the exercises in the first cycle 37.93%, increased in the second cycle into 96.50%. The thoroughness of learning outcomes in the first cycle is 50%, while in the second cycle learning completeness reached 97%. From the results obtained it can be concluded that learning mathematics by using Block Dienes can increase the activity and student learning outcomes in class I SDN 14 UlakKarang Selatan.
