Abstract
This research is motivated by the teacher during the learning predominantly use the lecture method, so the IPS student learning outcomes have not been as expected. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in student understanding and affective aspects of grade IV-A in social studies learning materials about the importance of cooperatives in improving well-being through a model of problem based learning in SDN 35 Pagambiran. This research is a classroom action research. The research instrument in the form of teacher activity observation sheet, sheet test learning outcomes, student observation sheet affective appraisal and field record sheet. The subjects were students of class IV-A, amounting to 30 students. Results of the study in two cycles showed an increase learning outcomes IPS through a model problem based learning. Understanding the cycle I gained an average that is 74.33 and increased in the second cycle 83.66. On average affective aspects of students in the first cycle, namely 77.91 and increased in the second cycle 86.25. It can be concluded, through a model of problem based learning can be enhanced learning outcomes IPS grade IV-A. Researchers suggest that teachers can choose and use appropriate learning model in teaching, which can use the model of problem based learning to improve learning outcomes IPS.
