Abstrak

This study aims to present a form of code-mixing and the cause of the mixed code used by the Indonesian teacher in Class VII SMPN 1 Sungai Sungai Tarab Tarab Tanah Datar. Mixed Code is a condition in which the perpetrators speak two languages or more with each incorporate elements of one language into another language. The theory used in this research is the theory Suwito (1984). The research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The study was focused on a form of code-mixing and code-mixing causes. Sources of data for the purposes of data analysis used the data obtained through the speech language recordings. Based on observations in the field, the data showed mixed form of code and code-mixing causes as many as 105, namely: mixed into as many as 100 speech and code-mixing to the outside as much as 5 data. The cause of code-mixing when the teacher explains learning materials occur because (1) the identification of the role, (2) the identification of varieties, (3) the desire to interpret and explain. It can be concluded from the speech code-mixing into and out of use during the learning process takes place in SMPN1 Sungai Sungai Tarab Tanah Datar.
