This study was motivated by the low activity and student learning outcomes in learning Indonesian grade IV SDN 22 Kuranji, Padang. The purpose of this research is to improve the activity and student learning outcomes in learning Indonesian grade IV SDN 22 Kuranji Padang, using Problem Based Learning Model. This type of research is classroom action research (PTK) by Arikunto with four components, namely: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This study was conducted in two cycles. The data source is the fourth grade students of SDN 22 Kuranji Padang numbered 34 people. Peenelitian instruments used were observation sheet activities of teacher, student activity observation sheet and test results of learning. Based on the analysis of the activity of students in reading poetry, the percentage of each cycle has increased. In the first cycle the number of students who pass with an average value of 65.43% increased to 78.67% in the second cycle. Based on the analysis of student activity in listening to the teacher in presenting the material, in the first cycle completeness percentage 66.54% increase to 80.87%. Based on the analysis of students' knowledge, 67.64% in the first cycle increased to 88.23% in the second cycle. From the data obtained it can be concluded that there is increased activity and student learning outcomes in Indonesian teaching fourth grade SDN 22 Kuranji Padang, after using the Model Problem Based Learning.
