Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of students 'understanding of mathematical concepts for implementing cooperative learning strategies Probing Technique type and to determine the students' understanding of mathematical concepts that use cooperative learning strategies Probing Technique type is better than learning to use conventionallearning.
This research question is "How does understanding the development of students' mathematical concepts for implementing cooperative learning strategies in the classroom Probing Technique type VII SMPN 1 Baserah?". The hypothesis of this study is students 'understanding of mathematical concepts that use of cooperative learning strategies Probing Technique type more than the students' understanding of mathematical concepts that use conventional learning in class VII SMPN 1 Baserah Kuantan Hilir.
This research is a research experiment. Population is a class VII student of SMPN 1 Baserah enrolled in the academic year 2014 / 2015yang consists of five classes, namely VII1 until VII5. Samples were taken at random after the normality test, homogeneity test population and equality test average. Selected experimental class is VII1 class and control class elected VII2 class. The type of data this study is qualitative and quantitative data.
The instrument used in this study is a, quiz and final test. The development of students' understanding of mathematical concepts for implementing learning strategies Cooperative mode probing technique in class VII SMPN 1 Baserah tends to increase from the first quiz to quiz the fourth, it shows students are able to understand the concept of cooperative learning strategies based Probing Technique type.
Hypothesis test student learning outcomes were analyzed using t-test. Based on data analysis with the hypothesis test calculations with α = 0.05 and df = 59 then obtained t_hitung = 2.06, while t_tabel = 2.01, because t_hitung> t_tabel H_0 hypothesis is rejected, then the hypothesis is a hypothesis H_1.
