Abstract

 

The process of learning mathematics in MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang is still dominated by the teacher while many students are not active. Generally they just accept what the teacher explained, students have difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts. Responding to this problem, it is necessary to apply the learning that engages students play an active role so that the student is able to find its own concept and are able to solve problems related to mathematics is also a material that can improve learning outcomes. One model of learning that involves students actively engaged in learning activities and can improve students understanding of mathematical concepts is a cooperative learning model think pair square. Population in this study is the seventh graders MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang, VII5 is experimental class and VII6 is control class. After the analysis, obtained χ2 = 12.7. Based on the table χ2, to χ2= 12.7 and db = 1 obtained p 0,05 mean H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Inferential comprehension of mathematical concepts and learning outcomes increased with applied cooperative learning model think pair square.
