ANALISIS KESALAHAN DAN KESULITAN DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS VIII SMPN 2 PADANG

Abstract
This research was conducted at the VIII grade student’s SMPN 2 Padang in year 2014/2015.
At the time of completing math problems, grade student VIII SMPN 2 Padang is still a lot of mistakes and difficulties. In addition, the scores of mid semester they are still much below the minimum mistery criteria. To that end, the authors are interested in analyzing the shapes of errors and difficulties of the student and to know the causes through written tests, questionnaires, interviews to some students and teachers. Results showed students who have misconceptions of 41.38%, 72.41% fault principle, algorithm errors 86.20%, 58.63% concept difficulty, difficulty principles 93.10%, 86.20% adversity algorithms. The factors that cause students to make mistakes and difficulties are 1) The internal factors consist of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, 2) external factors consist of family, community, and school environment. Teachers and schools have been working to improve learning outcomes, but the effort of the students is not maximized.
