The background of this research is the fact that it appears that the learning process is centered on the teacher, the teacher explains the material, give some example problems, and settlement. Then the teacher gives students the chance to ask, just that students do not dare to reveal what has not been understood as well as at the time of completing the exercise most students to copy answers from another student without correcting back. So, the activities of student are only listen, take notes, pay attention and do the exercise of teacher. Another alternative can be applied is active learning strategies class concern . The type of active learning strategies Class Concern is a technique to obtain the participation of students through writing. The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematics learning activities for active learning strategies applied method of type Class Concern and to test students 'mathematics learning outcomes by applying active learning strategies Class Concern types better than the results of students' mathematics learning by applying conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 1 Lengayang academic year 2014/2015. The type of this experimental. The instrumen in this research was observation sheet and result achievemen test. The results are an increase in the activity of students at each learning and the learning outcomes of students learning mathematics applying active learning strategies Class Concern types better than the results of students' mathematics learning by applying conventional learning.
