Abstract
There are some things that cause low student mathematics learning outcomes in SMPN 1 Sungai Limau reqency Padang Pariaman class VIII in the academic year 2014/2015, the lack of interaction of students, teachers rarely associate mathematics learning materials with everyday life or real in the minds of students (realistic problems), teachers also rarely provide sample questions and exercises related to the problem so that the student's ability to solve problems is low. To that end, the necessary approach Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) to resolve the issue. This learning using realistic problems that make learning mathematics more meaningful and students can communicate convey the work and ideas. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning outcomes of students who have applied mathematics realistic mathematics approach. This type of research is experimental research and research population is all students of SMPN 1 Sungai Limau Padang Pariaman. Sample of research are class VIII7 as an experimental clas and the class as a clas VIII5 control. Based on data analysis from student learning outcomes in both classes of samples, after the hypothesis test using t-test at the level of α = 0.05 result t〖>t〗_((0,95; 46)) is 2.0623 > 1.667. The results showed that students' mathematics learning outcomes after applying the approach Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) is better than learning outcomes of students who apply regular learning.
