PENINGKATAN AKTIVITAS BELAJAR DAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS SISWA KELAS VII.B DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE DISCOVERY BERBASIS MEDIA AUDIOVISUAL DI SMP NEGERI 1 PAGAI UTARA KABUPATEN KEPULAUAN MENTAWAI

Abstrak

The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in the activity of learning and writing skills VII.B grade students using audiovisual media based discovery methods SMPN1 North Pagai in the Mentawai Islands. The theory used in the study, are theory proposed by: (1) Sadirman (2011) about learning activities, (2) Semi (2003) and Tarigan (2008) about writing skills, (3) Hanafi and Suhana (2012) about the concept learning strategy, (4) Azhar (2013) about the instructional media. This research is classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The data source is VII.B grade students of SMPN 1 North Pagai Mentawai Islands numbering 26 students. Collecting data using (1) observation sheet of study activity, (2) observation of student activity sheet, and (3) a written test. Based on this research, it is known that (1) the average activity of students in the first cycle is 72% and the second cycle was 81% (increase 9%), (2) the average learning outcomes of students' writing skills in the first cycle was 83.99, the second cycle was 88.19 increase 4.22). Thus, it can be concluded that using audiovisual media based discovery methods can increase the activity of learning and writing skills VII.B grade students of SMPN 1 North Pagai Mentawai Islands.
