Abstrak

This research is motivated by the teacher during the learning predominantly use the lecture method, so that the activities and results of social studies students have not been as expected. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in student discussion activity, students' knowledge, and affective aspects of fourth grade students in social studies learning materials on social issues through a model Group Investigation in SDN 26 North Jati Padang District East. This research is a classroom action research. The research instrument in the form of sheets of observation of teacher activity, student discussion activity observation sheet, affective aspects of students' observation sheets, sheets achievement test, and field record sheet. The subjects were students of class IV totaling 29 students. The results of the study in two cycles showed an increase Activities and Learning Outcomes IPS through a model of Group Investigation. Activity discussion on the first cycle is 44.86% and increased 81.06% in the second cycle. Knowledge on the first cycle is 58.62% and increased 80.76% in the second cycle. On average affective aspects of students in the first cycle is 40.62% and increased 76.07% in the second cycle. It can be concluded, through the Group Investigation model can be improved activity and learning outcomes IPS fourth grade students. Researchers suggest that teachers can choose and use appropriate learning model in teaching, which can use the model Group Investigation to improve the activity and results of social studies.
