Abstrak

This study aimed to describe politeness in speech acts Minangkabau children to older people in the Rangeh village, Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatera. The theory used is the opinion Chaer (2010: 27) on to describe the types of speech acts, Azrial (2008: 44) on the context of the situation said politeness used in Minangkabau. The research is a qualitative research with descriptive method proposed by Moleong (2010: 6). Based on research results that politeness Minangkabau in speech acts assertive child against older people in the Rangeh village, Pesisir Selatan seen from the speech the child in the Rangeh village  found there was polite when spoken to an older person, but commonly found form of speech acts less polite. Manners of speech used children for speaking softly and politely, as well as older people appreciate him. Meanwhile, less mannered child told the older people due to situations and environments where they live, while the level of education of a family does not greatly affect a child politeness in speaking to an older person. The context of the situation said that often use children in the Rangeh village, Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatera in an assertive speech act, speech is often the case in the house occupied by a family in a quiet situation. Attitude speak with the children while older people pay less attention to the rules of politeness in relationships in Minangkabau when acting nan said that Kato ampek (four words).
