PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS PUISI DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA GAMBAR SISWA KELAS VIII.6 SMP NEGERI 1 BATANG KAPAS KABUPATEN PESISIR SELATAN

Abstrak

The background of this research was the lack of the VIII.6 grade students’ ability in writing poetry at SMPN 1 Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan district. The aim of this research was to describe the increasing of VIII.6 grade students’ ability in writing poetry by using images at SMPN 1 Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan district. In this research, the researcher used several theories. They are: (1) Arikunto (2010) Action Research, (2) Tarigan (2008) The Nature of Writing, (3) Aminuddin (2009) The Nature of Literature, (4) Atmazaki (2008) Analysis of the Poem, (5) Suryanto, et al (2007) Guides of Study and Indonesian Literature. The design of this research was classroom action research. The implementation of the research was in two sections, it means that there were two meetings. The population of this research was VIII.6 grade students at SMPN 1 Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan district. The member of population was 27 students. The instrument used to get the data was writing test in the form of writing poetry. In the first section, VIII.6 grade students’ ability in writing poetry was 72, whereas in the second section was 85. The result of the data analysis showed that there was increasing of VIII.6 grade students’ ability in writing poetry between first and second section. The percentage of the increasing between first and second section was 13%. Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that the use of images can increased VIII.6 grade students’ ability in writing poetry at SMPN 1 Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan district.
