Abstrak

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the activity and learning outcome of students in learning of social sciences by using Inquiry methods in class V SD Istiqamah Sicincin Padang Pariaman district. This research is a classroom action research. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings and one final exam cycle. The research subjects fifth grade students of SD Istiqamah Sicincin, totaling 26 people. The research instrument used is the observation sheet realm of affective aspects of students, observation sheets implementation process of learning teacher, test results of students' learning, notes field and camera. Based on the results of student learning activity observation sheet in cycle I and II , the percentage of student activity obtained in the discussions on the first cycle of 61.54 % increased to 78.85 % in the second cycle and student activity in concluding lesson on the first cycle increased to 67.73 % 84.62 % in the second cycle . Based on the results of the study , the percentage of students who achieve a passing grade in the first cycle and increased 61.54 % in the second cycle into 84.62 %. This means learning of social sciences using the inquiry method can increase the activity and student learning outcomes in grade V Istiqmah Sicincin Padang Pariaman district. Based on these results, the researchers suggested that teachers can use Inquiry methods in learning to improve student activity and learning outcomes. Keyword: Learning Activities, IPS, Inquiry
