PENGARUH PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS PROYEK TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS BERITA DI KELAS VIII SMPN 2 TIGO NAGARI KABUPATEN PASAMAN
Abstrak
The purpose of this research was to describe the effect of using project based learning on the student’s skill in writing news in class VIII of SMPN 2 Tigo Nagari. The theories applied in this research were those proposed by Semi (2009) about the nature of writting and steps in writting, Chaer (2010) about nature, types and the elements of news, and Wena (2008) about project based learning and convensional learning. This was a quasi experimental research. The population of the research was the students in class VIII of SMPN 2 Tigo Nagari. The sample was chosen by using random sampling technique because homogeneus relative population so that chosen class VIII C as experimental class and class VIII A as control class. The step of data analyzed are (1) calculating the average first test and the last average test students in writing news, (2) achievemen test by using normality test and variance homogeneity test regarding the sample, and (3) hypothesis test. Based on the result of the research, it was relevaled by: (1) The student’s skill to write news was getting better after project based learning was applied in which the value of ttable was 1,67 and tcalculated was 2,41 indicating tcalculated ˃ ttable, indicating zero hypothesisμ1 ≤ μ2 was rejected, (2) student’s skill to write news was getting better after project based learning was applied in which the value of ttable was 1,67 and tcalculated was 2,64 showing that tcalculated ˃ ttable. Hence, the use of project based learning significantly affects the student’s skill to write news item texts in class VIII of SMPN 2 Tigo Nagari.
