AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN WRITING SHORT PARAGRAPH ABOUT FUTURE PLAN AT THIRD YEAR STUDENTS OF BUNG HATTA UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to describe the third year students’ grammatical errors in writing short paragraph about future plan at English Department of Bung Hatta University. Descriptive method was used as the design of this research. The number of population members was 56 students. The instrument used to get the data was writing subjective test. The reliability index of the test was very high correlation (0.99). The results of this research showed that in general, the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta Univerity made grammatical errors in writing short paragraph about future plan. It was proved by the finding that 24 (86%). In detail, 13 students (46%) made omission error, 10 students (36%) made addition error, 3 students (11%) made misordering, and 5 students (18%) made misformation error. The result, the researcher concluded that the third year students of English Department of Bung Hatta University had made grammatical errors in writing short paragraph about future plan. The suggested to the lecturers to explain and give more exercises about making a good paragraph. For students, study harder and learn more about making a good paragraph and grammatical error.
