This study was motivated by the low student learning outcomes in teaching civics, and teachers still tend to use methods of lecture and question and answer. This study aimed to describe improving student learning outcomes in learning civics using cooperative learning model type STAD in Class V SDN 10 Koto Jua. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) held in the first semester of the 2015/2016 academic year at SDN 10 Koto Jua. The subjects were students of class V SDN 10 Koto Jua totaling 18 students. The study was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisting of three meetings. The research instrument is a matter which form of objective, essays and observation sheet of students and teachers aspects. The results showed an increase in the percentage of student learning outcomes aspects of knowledge in the first cycle is 68.88 with the thoroughness of the students as many as 10 people with a percentage (55.56%) in the first cycle, increasing to an average of 77.22 with a class of 15 people with the completeness percentage (83.33 %) in the second cycle. While the learning outcomes aspects ratakelas understanding of the average value of 65.55 with student mastery of 7 people with percentage (38.89%) in the first cycle, increasing to an average of 74.44 with a class of 13 people with the completeness percentage (72.22%) in the second cycle. It can be concluded that the use of STAD cooperative model can improve learning outcomes Civics class V SDN 10 Koto Jua.
