Abstrak

This study aimed to describe the ability to write poetry class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman using Picture and Picture with the imaging element. The theory used in this study theory advanced by Djoko Pradopo about the use of imagery in poetry and second theory is the theory advanced by Hamdayama Jumantah abouth methods of Picture and Picture. This type of qualitative research by using descriptive research object class VIII-4 SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman 2014/2015 school year totaling 35 students. Based on the analysis of data on the ability to write poetry students of SMP Negeri 1 Pariaman VIII-4 with a method of Picture and Picture are seen from the element of imaging recorded very good because the students were able to write poetry according to the theme and the discovery of the element of imaging comprising, image vision 117 times, palpability images 39 times, 33 times a foretaste imagery, imagery hearing 7 times, 7 times the motion imagery, and imagery of smell was not found. This it can be concluded that the method of Picture and Picture is a fairly effectife method in learning to write poetry.
