Abstrak

This research is motivated by the ability to write a short story class X SMA Negeri 1 Ujung Batu, Rokan Hulu, Riau Province is still low. This study aims to prove the difference between the results of learning to write short stories classes taught using learning model Discovery Learning by being taught using lecture method. The theory used in this study (1) understanding of writing proposed by Semi (2003), (2) the notion of short stories proposed by Muhardi and Hasanuddin (1992), (3) the elements of stories presented by Nurgiyantoro (2010), (4) discovery learning model proposed by Mulyasa (2009). This research is a quantitative research. The method used in this research is the experimental method. Based on the analysis of data obtained thitung = 10,73 and ttabel = 1,67, mean thitung > ttabel, so the learning outcomes of students who applied Model Discovery Learning is better than learning outcomes of students who do not apply Model Discovery Learning in class X SMA Negeri 1 Ujung Batu. It can be concluded that the Discovery Learning Model significantly affect the ability to write a short story class X SMA Negeri 1 Ujung Batu Rokan Hulu, Riau Province.
