Abstract

 

This research was motivated by the lack of activity of group discussions, answer questions and respond to questions of fourth grade students in social studies learning and poor cognitive achievement (level of understanding) at SDN 20 Muara Jambu Pesisir Selatan. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in activity suggests a discussion group, answering questions and responding to questions, as well as cognitive learning outcomes in social studies learning model through the Inside Outside Circle. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. Subjects of this study fourth grade students of 20 people. The instruments used were observation sheet teacher learning activities, student activity observation sheet and test sheet end of the cycle. The results showed the average score of the activities carried out group discussions on the first cycle of 67.5% increased in the second cycle of 80%, answered questions on the activity of the first cycle of 57.5% increased in the second cycle by 75% and the activity respond to questions 65 increased in the second cycle by 75%. The average student learning outcomes at the end of the test the first cycle of 30%, increased in the second cycle of 70%. From this research, it was concluded that the activity and student learning outcomes in social studies learning can be enhanced through the model Inside Outside Circle. Based on this study researchers suggest that teachers can use the model Inside Outside Circle to increase the activity and student learning outcomes.
