ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN SISWA DALAM MEMAHAMI KONSEP BANGUN DATAR SEGIEMPAT BERDASARKAN TINGKAT BERFIKIR VAN HIELE DI KELAS VII SMPN 3 PADANG

This research is motivated by the teacher would teach a whole one by one waking flat quadrilateral by introducing a form through the props, then given the nature and formulation of the circumference as well as the broad flat wake quadrilateral to the student, the teacher is less guided the students in building his own knowledge in understanding the nature and formulation to determining the circumference and area flat quadrilateral, students are still difficult to understand the material flat quadrilateral unaccustomed to analyze their own problems. It is necessary to analyze the ability of students to understand the concept Flat quadrilateral based on Van Hiele levels of thinking and the factors that led to the achievement of students' ability to understand the concept of flat wake quadrilateral based on Van Hiele levels of thinking. This research is a descriptive study with the entire population of students of class VII SMPN 3 Padang. Proposive sampling using sampling and selected as the sample penelitiaan VII5 class. The research instrument is a test description, and interviews to 6 people. The results show the ability of students to understand the concept Flat quadrilateral based thinking Van Hiele levels that meet the Phase 1 (Visualization) 93.75%, which meets in Phase 2 (Analysis) 71.88%, which meets in Phase 3 (Informal Deduction ) 35.94%, which meets at Stage 4 (Deductions) 18.75%. And the factors that lead to the achievement of students' ability to understand the concept of flat wake quadrilateral based on Van Hiele levels of thinking. From the research results suggested that the mathematics teacher at SMPN 3 Padang apply learning geometry in accordance with the stages of Van Hiele geometry understanding.
