AN ANALYSIS OF THIRD YEAR STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN TRANSFERRING SIMPLE SENTENCE OF PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE FROM ACTIVE INTO PASSIVE VOICE AT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF BUNG HATTA UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to describe the third year students’ ability in transferring simple sentence of past perfect continuous tense from active into passive voice at English Department of Bung Hatta University. The design of this research is descriptive. The population of this research was the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University. In selecting the sample, the researcher used total sampling technique. The number of sample was 54 students. The ability of the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University in transferring simple sentence of past perfect continuous tense from active into passive voice was moderate. It was supported by the fact that there were 19 students (35%) who had high ability, 30 students (56%) who had moderate ability, and 5 students who had low ability (9%). Based on the result, it was concluded that the third year students’ ability in transferring simple sentence of past perfect continuous tense was moderate. It means that the students did not understand well about it. The lecturers are expected to give more explanation and exercises about transferring active into passive voice. And for the students, they are suggested to learn more and do the exercises in transferring simple sentence of past perfect continuous tense from active into passive voice.
