Abstrak

This research is motivated by the lack of student learning outcomes in social studies learning, especially in class V in SD Muhammadiyah Padang Panjang. The research objective is to improve student learning outcomes in the fifth grade social studies learning methods Problem Solving in SD Muhammadiyah Padang Panjang. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) by the number of students 18 people. The study was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of three meetings. Based on the research results it can be seen that the average value of student learning outcomes in the cognitive achievement of students at the end of the test cycle of the average value of 68.33 in the first cycle increased to 83.33 in the second cycle, the completeness 44.44% (8 people) in the first cycle to 83.33% (15) the second cycle. Student learning outcomes in the affective aspect of the average value of 64.58 in the first cycle increased to 82.99 in the second cycle, the completeness of 50%, in the first cycle increased to 88.89% in the second cycle. The final conclusion is that learning Problem Solving IPS method can improve learning outcomes in the fifth grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Padang Panjang. Therefore, it is suggested to teachers in social studies learning with Problem Solving method can be used as one method of learning in primary school.
