THE INCREASING OF THE STUDENS’ READING COMPREHENSION BY USING WORD SQUARE AT FOURTH GRADE IN SDN 34 AIR PACAH, KOTO TANGAH REGION, PADANG.
Abstrak
The background of this research was the score of students’ reading comprehension. The teachers always use the old method with asking and giring questions, so that the studens’ just be listeners. The purposeof this research was to describe the studens’ reading comprehension by using dalman’s method (2013) and word square method by istarani (20012). This research used action research colaboratively. this research was done twice. The sample of this research was the fourth grade of SDN 32 Aia Pacah, Koto Tangah, Padang and number of sample were 36 students. The instrument of this research was the techers’ observation, reading comprehensions score, and the final test. The result of this research wa the students’ reading comprehension could increase their ability. Based on the data gathered, the teachers’ teaching percentage in first cycle was 66,67% became 83,33% in the second cycle. The students’ reading comprehension in the first cycle was 77,22 and the percentage was 62,62% became 91,33% and precentage was 94,44% in the second cicle. It could be concluded that this method could be used to increase the students’ reading comprehension in bahasa. The researcher was expected this method could be used not only in bahasa subject, but it could be used in science, social, and math subject.
