Abstrak

This research is motivated by the lack of understanding by students in recognizing and pronouncing the letter, the lack of understanding of students in pronouncing the syllables, words and simple sentences, students do not pay attention to the teacher during the learning process, ketidaksuaian between matter and teaching methods used by teachers in teaching and learning, and student learning outcomes is still under the KKM set. To solve this problem, one of the efforts that can be done is to apply the method of SAS. The purpose of research is to describe the increase in student understanding in recognizing and pronouncing the letter in class I.C mentally disabled SLB Linggo Sari Baganti in Indonesian language learning through the implementation of the method of SAS. This type of research is the Classroom Action Research (PTK). Subjects in this study were students in the class I.C tunagrahita State SDLB Linggo Sari Baganti amounting to four people with a background in social and economic circumstances. This study consisted of two cycles in which each cycle consisted of three meetings ie twice to discuss the matter and one final test. Instruments in this study is the observation sheet teachers and achievement test. The results showed increased interest and student learning outcomes through the implementation of the method of SAS. The percentage of completeness cycle 1 was 50% with an average of 67.25, and the percentage of completeness cycle 2 is 100% with an average of 82. This indicates improving student learning outcomes. The development of students' skills in learning Indonesian is also increasing.
