Abstrak

Abstract

This research is motivated to determine the level of students' critical thinking skills. Every student has a level of thinking skills that vary in understanding a problem so that the way of thinking of students in response to existing problems are also different. The purpose of this research 1) analyze the critical thinking ability of students to understand the material Flat quadrilateral based on the elements of reasoning and intellectual standards of reasoning Model Critical Thinking Paul and Elder in class VII SMP Negeri 7 Padang 2) describe the factors that cause students of class VII SMP Negeri 7 Padang at the level of certain TKBK. Type research is descriptive and qualitative research methods. Samples that all students in grade VII consists of eight classes and sampling was conducted by sampling proposive. The results showed that TKBK students to understand the material Flat quadrilateral obtained by students at the level of TKBK 4 (0%), TKBK 3 (74.71%), TKBK 2 (15.88%), TKBK 1 (8.82%), and TKBK 0 (0.59%). The general factors that cause students to be at a certain level such TKBK a) Students are not able to determine the important information in question b) Students have not been able to determine the concept or formula correctly c) The student has not been able to sketch the images that are requested in the matter correctly d) students in identifying and resolving problems is not appropriate for the less scrupulous e) Conclusions given students lacking or unclear.
