Abstract

Based on the observation that has been done at MTsN. Palangki in District of Sijunjung, reseracher found that learning process iss still centered on the teacher. It is seen in the learning process that to do tend to be one-way, and is still dominated by teacher. Students activeness of eighth grade in following this learning  is not appearent, the students rarely ask questions, active in doing  the practice questions that are still lacking, and students in eighth grade are also less able to write what they know, ask and determine the exact formula to resolve the problem. This resulted the learning outcomes of eighth grade students are still many under the minimum completeness criteria (MCC). To overcome these problems then applied learning model type of Snowball Throwing.The purpose of this research was to determine the students mathematics learning outcomes  which applying the learning model  of cooperative snowball throwing was better than the mathematics learning outcomes which applying usual mathematics learning model for VIII grade students at MTsNPalangki in  District of Sijunjung. The hypothesis of this research is the students math learning outcomes with applying cooperative learning model type of snowball throwing is better than students math learning outcomes with usual learning.This type of research is experimental research with a population of eighth grade students at MTsN. Palangki in District of Sijunjung, from the selected sample VII.2 class as an experimental class and VII. 1 as a control class. The data in this research  is the data of learning outcomes on the samples obtained  from the test class. The test result were analyzied to test the hypothesis using χ2formula for two independent samples. From this analysis, obtained = (0,95 ; 61) = 1,6668 obtained >  is > 1,6668, it means accepting dan rejecting . Thus, it was concluded that the math learning outcomes which applying  learning models the type of snowball throwing better than the math learning outcomes which applying usual learning.
