Abstract

               The purpose of this study is to describe the social values in Kaba Magek Manandin work Sutan Pangaduan and Si Buyuang Karuik works Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah. The theory used in this study are the opinions Ahadiat (2007) on the theory and appreciation of literature, Djamaris (2002) about the introduction of folk literature Minangkabau, Abdulsyani (2012) on the schematic, theory, and applied sociology, and Herabudin (2015) about the kind of social value , This type of research is qualitative descriptive method. The object of research is social value in Kaba Magek Manandin work Sutan Pangaduan and Si Buyuang Karuik works Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah. Based on data analysis found three types of social value that is the value of material, vital values, and spiritual values. In Kaba Magek Manandin work Sutan Pangaduan found (1) the value of the material as much as 1 of data, (2) the value of as much as 2 vital data, and (3) the spiritual value as much as 17 data. In Kaba Si Buyuang Karuik works Sjamsudin St. Endah Radjo found (1) the value of the material by 5 the data, (2) the value of as much as 2 vital data, and (3) the spiritual values as contained in the equation 17. Kaba Magek Manandin work Sutan Pangaduan and Si Buyuang Karuik works Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah equally found three types of social value that is the value of material, vital values, and spiritual values. Difference was found to exist at the object and the amount of data. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the Kaba Magek Manandin work Sutan Pangaduan and Kaba Si Buyuang Karuik works Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah there is social value that can be applied in school and everyday life.
