AN ANALYSIS OF THE THIRD YEAR STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN PREDICTING INFORMATION FROM DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF BUNG HATTA UNIVERSITY

Abstrak

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to describe the ability of the third year students of Bung Hatta University to predict information of descriptive text. The design of this research was descriptive. The number of population members was 46 students. The researcher used random sampling techniques to select the sample. The number of sample for try out test was 10 students of 46 students, and the sample of real test was 36 students. For try out was 22% of 100% and for real test was 78% of 100%. Based on the findings, it was found that the ability of the third year students at English Department of Bung Hatta University to predict information in identification of descriptive text on describing place information was excellent. Consequently, it is suggested to The lecturers are expected to give more explanation and exercises to keep improving students’ skill in predicting information from descriptive text, including identification and description. For the students, they are suggested to do more exercises in order to keep better in predicting information the text.
