ABSTRACT
This study addressed the use of code switching speech teacher in the learning process Cultural Arts class VIII SMPN 29 Padang. This study aimed to describe the transfer function according Nursaid code and Maksan, and code switching according Nursaid and Maksan and according Chaer and Agustina and objectives of teachers to transfer the code in the learning process of Cultural Arts at VIII grade of SMPN 29 Padang. This study is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The focus of this research is the transfer function codes, cause of code and the destination code to transfer the teacher in the learning process in VIII grade of SMPN 29 Padang. The technique of collecting the data is done by: (1) record the speech of teachers that occurs in the process of learning by using a tape recorder of Samsung cell phone, (2) transcript the data that has been recorded to written form, (3) determine and classify the speech that has been used over code, (4) analyzing the speech of teachers who have used the code switching in the learning process. The data in this study were obtained through an audio recording of a teacher of Art and Culture VIII grade of SMPN 29 Padang. The object is the code switching performed by the teacher in the learning process in the Art and Culture class. The theory used in this study were (1) the theory proposed by Nursaid and Maksan (2002) about the function of code, and (2) the theory proposed by Nursaid and Maksan (2002) and Chaer and Agustina (2004) about the causes of code. The research process of data transfer code to get 62 speech teacher in the learning process Cultural Arts of students VIII grade of SMPN 29 Padang. Based on the analysis of data found to cause code switching namely (1) proficiency as many as 32 of data, (2) the listener or opponent said as many as 18 data, and (3) a sense of disappointment as many as 12 data. Code switching function: (1) specialized people as much as 6 of data, (2) reiterates many as 7 data, (3) convey the appeal as much as 41 data, and (4) develop familiarity as much as 8 data. From the research results obtained, there has been a code switching speech teacher in the learning process Cultural Arts students VIII grade of SMPN 29 Padang function and cause code switching, code switching teacher of Indonesian to Minangkabau language or language Minangkabau to Indonesian. Rather this code aims to make students familiar with the content submitted by teachers. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded that over the code that teachers do aims to make the learning process can run well, develop a sense of familiarity between teachers and students, creating a comfortable classroom atmosphere during the learning process.
