AN ANALYSIS OF THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS’ ABILITY TO WRITE SIMPLE SENTENCE IN FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE AT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF BUNG HATTA UNIVERSITY

ABTRACT
The purpose of this research was to find out the second year students’ ability to write simple sentence in future continuous tense at English Department of Bung Hatta University. The design of this research was descriptive method. The members of population were 32 students. The researcher used total sampling technique to select the sample since the population was small. In collecting the data, the researcher used writing test. The researcher found the reliability coefficient for total test was very high (0.99). It means that the test was reliable. Based on the finding, the researcher found that in general,the students’ ability in writing simple sentence in future continuous tense was moderate (65.38%).There were 46.15% students classified into moderate in writing positive form, 69.23% students classified into moderate in writing negative form and 61.54% students classified into moderate in writing yes/no question form.Based on the result, the researcher gives suggestion to the English teachers to give more exercises and explanation about how to write good sentences. The students are suggested to do more exercises to understand the content, grammar and mechanics in writing positive, negative and yes/no question forms. For the other researchers, the researcher suggest them to study about factors that made some students have errors inwriting simple sentence in future continuous tense.
