Abstract

This research is motivated by the proliferation of the crime of gambling in the city of Padang, this study aims to describe the form of the crime of gambling, powers and duties, and constraints, this kind of research qualitative that can give you a factual about the role of Police Padang, instruments used are observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain the data is lacking qualitative. These results indicate that the Police Padang has run the implementation of criminal offenses prevention of gambling, duties and functions performed by part Satbinmas through counseling activities concerning the prohibition committed the crime of gambling in the form of dissemination to the public as well as parts Satreskrim who has carried out the process of prosecution of perpetrators of the crime of gambling , From the research, the powers and duties Padang Police in tackling the crime of gambling has been carried out in accordance with Act No. 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National Police in the form of repressive measures, but in the event melaksanakaan Police Padang little obstacles in the case of unavailability of special infrastructure to carry out these duties.
