AN ANALYSIS OF THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING IMPERATIVE SENTENCES AT SMP NEGERI 27 PADANG.

ABTRACT
The aimed to find out the second year students’ ability to write Imperative Sentences at SMP Negeri 27 Padang. It was aimed to find out the ability the students’ at SMP Negeri 27 Padang it writing Imperative Sentences. The design of this research was descriptive. The members population were 238 students. The researcher used stratified cluster random sampling technique to select the sample since the students were distributed into seven classes. The total number of sample members was 68. In collecting data, the researcher used writing test. The researcher found the reability coefficient for total test was very high (0.58). It means that the test was validity. Then, the test was valid terms of content validity. Based on the finding, the researcher found that There were 44.12% students classified into low in affirmative command, 58.82% students classified into high in negative command sentences, in 26.47% students classified into low in affirmative request sentences. Based on the result, the researcher gives suggestion to the English teachers to give more exercises and explanation about the difference between affirmative and negative command. For the students are suggested to learn more about how to write imperative in appropriate situations and do more exercises. For the further researchers ais suggested to find out the students’ ability in writing the order kinds of imperative.
