Abstrak

ABSTRAC

The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of self-concept and interest in learning and the learning achievement Biology Grade VII in SMP Negeri 12 Padang. This research is descriptive and the population in this study were 263 students of class VII SMPN 12 Padang enrolled in the 2nd half of the school year 2015/2016, with a sample of 65 students. The research variables are variables X (The self-concept and interest) and the variable Y (academic achievement). The data were collected by distributing a questionnaire consisting of 24 items statement. Data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 with the correlation formula. Tingat self-concept in class VII SMPN 12 Padang obtained an average value of 2.91 with the medium category, the level of interest in studying in class VII SMPN 12 Padang obtained an average value of 2.89 with the medium category. The analysis shows the relationship variables self-concept and academic achievement of 0.508 with a moderate interpretation, Relationships interest in learning and academic achievement biology with a correlation coefficient was r of 0.455. Hypothesis test results on the real level of 0.01 was obtained t count = 4.6797 and t table 1,670. Price t> t price table it can be concluded H0 and H1 accepted. The study states there is a positive relationship self concept and interest in learning and the learning achievement of class VII student of biology at SMPN 12 Padang.
