Abstract

The low of mathematics learning outcome in class VIII  SMP Negeri 15 Padang one of them caused by the lack of activity of the student in the learning process. To overcome this, one of the efforts is to implement Cooperative LearningPair Exchange Type. With the implementation of this type students can be expected to respond with good of study, give opinions, listening to explanations from friends or teachers, and solve a math problem with some friends to exchange ideas.The purpose of this study was to determine the development of the activity of learning for appliying Cooperative Learning Pair Exchange Type and learning mathematics using the usual learning in class VIII  SMP Negeri 15 Padang. And knowing the proportion of students learning mathematics learning for applying the Cooperative Learning Pair Exchange Type higher than proportion oflearning mathematics using the usual learning of mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII SMP Negeri 15 Padang. This type of research is experimental study with the population of class VIII  SMPNegeri 15 Padang. The samples in this research were students of class VIII.1 as a class experiment and class VIII.5as a class control. Mathematics learning activities of students in the experimental class and control class is generally is increasing every meeting. And than the result after a hypothesis test obtained by 𝜒2= 3,74 and db = 1 with 0,01< p < 0,025. Therefore p < 0,05 means 𝐻0 rejected and H1 accepted. So, the hypothesis that the proportion of students learning mathematics learning to applying the Cooperative Learning Pair Exchange Type is higher than proportion oflearning mathematics using the usual learning of mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII SMP Negeri 15 Padang.
